Chapter 11

Amell

I don’t know why I got so mad seeing Leah’s boyfriend act a fool in my club. Yeah, I was annoyed that this nigga was in there getting into it with my customers and causing a scene. But, under normal circumstances, I would’ve just let Bigs handle that shit and kept it moving. But seeing that Leah looked upset and then hearing that this lame ass looking nigga was her man or ex-man or whatever, had me feeling territorial for some weird reason.

I’m normally not the jealous type; I don’t ever care about anyone enough to give a fuck about what you got going on in any other part of your life. But something about Leah, man, it got me wanting to murk anyone who looks at her too long. So, havin’ this nigga run up in my shit talkin’ about he want to talk to her, I had no choice but to bust his nose open. He’s lucky that’s all I did.

My phone started buzzing and pulled me away from Leah’s image in my head.

“What’s good?” I spoke into the phone.

“Our shit came in,” Shan’s voice said over the line.

I breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that my shipment was good. I’d been itching to get this load in so I could get it shipped out. My business was all about movement, and I had my buyers calling me from every city every other day asking about their product. I needed this shit to go smoothly so I could grow my empire to where I needed it to be. There was no room for error, and failure wasn’t an option.

“Good. I got the trucks ready and waiting to move out tomorrow,” I said.

Shan was the only motherfucker other than my brother, who I trusted to make sure everything was on track.

“Aight, sounds good. I’m ’bout to leave the spot and hit up Ashley real quick,” Shan said, and I chuckled.

“You never gon’ leave baby moms alone, nigga, you ain’t learn from the last time she torched your shit?” I asked.

He busted out laughing. This nigga was straight goofy. “That was a misunderstandin. She good now. I’ll get at you tomorrow.”

“Aight,” I said and hung up, laughing to myself again.

Shan and Ashley had the weirdest relationship. They were always fighting, but they seemed to be okay with their dysfunction, so who was I to judge? They took care of my godson, Izaiah, so that was all that mattered at the end of the day.

It was closing time anyway, and I was tired than a motherfucker. With everything we had going on with the club and the business the last few days, I’d been on edge for a minute, and at this point, all I really wanted was to get home and light up a blunt to clear my mind.

Most people didn’t know too much about me. They’d say I was elusive and rough, not really giving a fuck about anyone else. For the most part, they were right.
